Season 5 of The Island with Bear Grylls finishes for 2018 tonight and here’s all you need to know.
Channel 4 confirmed last year that The Island would be back for series 5 in 2018, this time with a new twist.
Bear Grylls said of the show: “It has been incredible to see the effect that The Island has not only on those who undergo the challenge themselves but also from so many millions of viewers around the world.
“It reminds us that when squeezed and stripped of everything, mankind and womankind still have an amazing spirit of resourcefulness, courage, and endurance, as well as an inspiring ability to form the closest of bonds with those alongside them going through hell.”
What time is The Island 2018 on TV?
The air date for The Island 2018 has now been confirmed as Mondays at 9PM on Channel 4.
The Island with Bear Grylls started on Monday, April 2 (Easter Monday) and aired for 5 episodes.
The last episode – ‘Surviving The Island’ – airs this evening.
The Island with Bear Grylls cast of contestants
The Island with Bear Grylls 2018 will see a brand new twist. For the latest series, the contestants will be split in a Rich v Poor divide, it’s been revealed.
Once again two groups of people who think they have what it takes to thrive in such challenging conditions are wanted.
They’ll be dropped off on a pacific island and left to fend for themselves, filming everything that happens.
Each series to date has seen a different twist, including men v women and old v young.
For 2018, the two groups be split by their wage.
One will be made up of people earning over £100,000 a year while the other will consist of workers on below the average salary.
After two weeks, Erance became the first to leave the Island.
The series sets out to look at the issue of wealth disparity, and whether living with vastly different economic circumstances at home has an influence on our ability to cope in the wild.
When challenged to start again from nothing, who is better equipped to thrive?
The Island with Bear Grylls spoilers
In the sixth special episode, in the final programme of the current series, Bear Grylls arrives on the island. He wants to discover the stories behind the castaways’ sometimes dubious survival strategies before he returns with them to civilisation.
His most burning question for the two teams is why on earth they chose to live apart, divided by class, when they clearly would have been stronger together.
