I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! bosses want ‘A-list’ names for next series

ITV reportedly reckons last year's line-up lacked star power

ITV is apparently eager to find ‘A-listers’ for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2018 after last year’s series featured lesser-known stars.

Many fans of the jungle reality show cried ‘who?’ on social media in November when they found out the contestants’ identities.

However, it seems change could be afoot after Daisy Moore, the executive that put the line-up together, took on a new role within ITV.

The Daily Star recently reported that bosses are hoping her replacement will attract bigger names for the forthcoming eighteenth series.

“The pressure will be on to hire someone new who can find decent household names,” the newspaper’s source commented.

An insider at the broadcaster said Daisy “felt it was time for a change” and is “still very much part of the ITV family”.

Among the more obscure faces that took part were Scottish politician Kezia Dugdale and Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley Johnson.

There was also YouTuber Jack Maynard, for whom the show was his first major splash among the wider public.

The rumours come as I’m A Celebrity bosses face the possibility that Ant and Dec may not be able to present the next series together.

Ant has stepped out of the limelight and checked in to rehab for the foreseeable future over his drink driving charge.

With some reports suggesting he could spend a year or more in treatment, it is unclear whether he will be back in action by the time I’m A Celeb returns this Winter.

Despite the uncertainty, ITV last week branded claims that Ant and Dec could be replaced on the show as “utter nonsense”.
