Mel Giedroyc returned for the show’s second series as 10 of the UK’s top woodworking enthusiasts, who will battle it out for the coveted prize of being named Britain’s Best Woodworker.

The woodworkers fought hammer and nail, building wonderful works of wood in just two days that combine epic scale with fine craftsmanship and cutting-edge design. They’ll also face a range of surprise challenges that test their core skills.

They’ll have to impress the judges, entrepreneur and woodworking expert Sophie Sellu and design academic Tom Dyckhoff, to remain in the competition as each week one is eliminated until a winner is crowned.

Handmade: Britain’s Best Woodworker recap

In the last episode (9 November), it was the final, and the three remaining woodworkers attempted to chisel their way to the coveted title.

Their last and most ambitious big build yet was to create the perfect place for a party… a home bar! It must be dramatic, sophisticated and at least one-metre tall.

And for their last ever technical skills challenge, they had to design and carve out a sympathetic bar sign to go with it. But with the stakes so high, tempers are tested. For two of the woodworkers, it’s finally home time, but for one, it’s happy hour as they’re crowned Britain’s Best Woodworker.
