Great British Bake Off 2018 spoilers: Spice week set to see TWO bakers leave

The Great British Bake Off 2018 continues this evening and here are some first spoilers from the latest episode.

Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood return to our screens this evening with Week 5 of the Great British Bake Off.

As always, Prue and Paul will be joined by GBBO hosts Sandi Toksvig OBE and Noel Fielding for what is their second series together.

They’ll be ready with a pertinent pep talk, a helpful hand or just a sympathetic shoulder to cry on, for the ninth series overall of the cooking competition.

12 of the best amateur bakers in the country started the show on a journey to whisk, knead, ice, beat and bake their way through classic British cakes, perfect patisserie, Danish delights, sticky caramel constructions and elaborate layered puddings.

In order to take the Bake Off Crown, they must master 30 challenges carefully designed by judges Paul and Prue to test their limits.

Last week’s episode – Dessert Week – saw Dan crowned star baker but there was a shock twist when it came to the weekly elimination.

During the challenge, not every one of the remaining bakers took part. An ill Terry was unable to compete and as a result, no bakers left the tent.

As Sandi revealed Dan was Star Baker, Noel said: “The person who is going home this week is nobody. The judges felt it wouldn’t be fair to send someone home with Terry not being here… but the downside to that means that next week there is a strong possibility two people might be going home”.

Tonight, it’s Spice Week, which means a bitter end for at least one of the remaining bakers.

Paul and Prue turn up the heat with a classic teatime favourite Signature before there’s a Technical that’s one of the toughest of the series so far, as the bakers are tested with a tricky Arabian pastry.

And, finally, they take on a fiddly Showstopper that promises to be anything but light work.

Another three challenges. Three chances to win star baker. Three chances to avoid leaving the tent.

Episode five of Great British Bake Off 2018 airs this evening at 8PM on Channel 4.

Alongside the main show, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, hosted by Jo Brand, airs Friday nights on Channel 4.
