Grange Hill star Lee Macdonald to guest star in EastEnders

Lee Macdonald will join the cast of BBC One’s EastEnders this year, it’s been confirmed.

The BBC have announced that a very familiar face is set to appear in EastEnders later this year when Lee Macdonald guest stars as Terry in a couple of episodes.

Lee is best known for playing troubled schoolboy Sammy ‘Zammo’ McGuire in Grange Hill and was at the centre of one of the shows most talked about storylines when the character became addicted to drugs.

Exploring the impact Zammo’s addiction had on his family and friends, Grange Hill led a campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and addiction.

The storyline went on to win numerous awards and Lee, along with fellow cast member Erkan Mustafa, even got invited to The White House where they met First Lady Nancy Reagan to discuss the storyline.

Now Lee will be returning to TV screens for a special role in EastEnders this Spring.

He will play Terry, a London bus driver, who will go up against The Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in a radio competition to win concert tickets.

Desperate to get the prized tickets for his beloved Linda, will Mick be able to clinch the prize or will Terry claim victory?

Speaking about his guest appearance, Lee commented: “I am absolutely chuffed to bits and so excited to be briefly joining the cast of EastEnders. I can’t say too much yet – but watch this space!  Top banana!”

Lee MacDonald will appear in a couple of episodes this Spring.
