Glow Up celebrity line up and air date for Comic Relief special on BBC Three

Glow Up celebrity special start date and line up revealed

BBC’s make-up artist competition series Glow Up will air a Celebrity special for Comic Relief.

Five famous faces will become Glow Up Make-Up Artists (MUAs) and compete to become Britain’s First Celeb Make-Up Star for Comic Relief.

The one-off special will see the celebrity MUAs given the same treatment as the competing MUAs in the full series.

The celebs taking part are Lady Leshurr, Nikki Lilly, Roman Kemp, Snoochie Shy and The Vivienne.

Glow Up Does Red Nose Day will air on BBC Three on Tuesday, 15 March, 2022 at 9PM.

A teaser shares: “Under the watchful eye of two of the biggest names in the make-up world, Val Garland and Dominic Skinner, they will be set a real world industry assignment: creating the make-up looks for a Red Nose Day runway show, complete with superstar models.

“Then, the MUAs will head back to Glow Up studio, where they must show off their creativity, in a Comic Relief creative brief, against the clock. The Celeb MUAs whose artistic skills shine through will be chosen to compete in a short make-up skill drill aka The Face Off.”

Val and Dominic will be joined by guest judge Dame Zandra Rhodes for the special while Maya Jama returns as host.

Musician Lady Leshurr said: “This experience has been like no other and I can’t do my own makeup to save my life, so I’m looking forward to seeing how tragic my makeup skills look in front of millions!”

Nikki Lilly, Emmy and BAFTA Award Winning Presenter added: “I loved my time on Glow Up Does Red Nose Day. I’m such a fan of the show and makeup has always been something I’ve used to express myself and is my escapism, so it was really fun taking on the challenge, especially with it being for charity.”

Radio presenter Roman Kemp commented: “My make-up skills are limited but you’ll see what I lack in experience, I make up for in enthusiasm. Glow Up was educational – I now know that apparently you can’t put lip paint on your eyes! We had a great time too, I met some lovely people and hopefully we’ll raise lots of money for Red Nose Day.”

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Snoochie Shy enthused: “I had so much fun on the show, glitter and gems had me turning into a human disco ball. Not sure if I’ll be giving up the day job just yet though. Big up the glitter crew.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star The Vivienne said: “This was the most fabulous experience. I’m such a huge fan of this show, so to take part was a dream come true. More importantly we got to raise money for charity. It was a brilliant experience and I met some amazing people.”

Money raised by Glow Up Does Red Nose Day will support vital life changing work in the UK and around the world which includes tackling homelessness, domestic abuse, poverty and mental health problems.

Meanwhile a fourth series of Glow Up will debut on BBC Three later in 2022.
