First Dates fans left in tears after viewer favourite Norman passes away

Fans watching this week’s First Dates were left in tears after a tragic end to the show.

As Christmas draws near, the First Dates restaurant re-opened its doors tonight for a new term of love: First Dates returned to TV yesterday evening for the latest episode in a brand new series.

Maître d’ Fred helped calm the single souls who were nervously hoping to find their special one.

In tonight’s latest episode we met Margaret, who’s 73, hasn’t been on a date for 44 years. She was looking for a family man who shares her love of music and love for life.

Her date was 72-year-old family man Norman, a freemason who was looking for a lady who he can take to dinner dances and who can bring even more joy to his life.

The pair hit it off but sadly, it was revealed at the end of the show that Norman had passed away since filming.

The official First Dates Twitter account said: “After going on several dates, Norman took Margaret to a Masonic ladies night. Norman’s motto was to live life to the full.

“At 72, Norman’s love for life took him to Greece where he sadly passed away surrounded by the family he adored.”

Viewers were left shocked by the sad end to the episode.

“Norman & Margaret…I’ve tears in my eyes ? … and then BAM… he’s died ??? I can’t deal with this tonight! #firstdates” reacted one on Twitter.

A second added: “That ending to #FirstDates just broke my heart ???”

Another concluded: “Tonights #FirstDates was heartbreaking”

First Dates airs on Channel 4.
