The Canary Islands with Jane McDonald (Gran Canaria)

Jane continues her island-hopping adventure, setting sail across the Atlantic to Gran Canaria.

After a brief ninety-minute ferry ride, she arrives and checks into her all-inclusive hotel, immediately captivated by the stunning view of sea and sand. Inspired, she heads out to explore the breathtaking Maspalomas sand dunes.

Her next stop is the charming village of Firgas in the island’s quieter north. Known for its intricate mosaics, refreshing spring water, and a unique waterfall that runs through the village centre, Jane strolls through the streets, savouring local tapas. She then cools off with a dip in a natural seawater pool along the Atlantic’s edge.

Eager to see more, Jane rents a jet ski for a thrilling exploration of the coastline from the water. She’s then delighted to discover incredible sand sculptures by local artists, including one of herself!

No trip to Gran Canaria is complete without experiencing its vibrant nightlife. Jane finds herself thoroughly entertained at one of the island’s renowned drag queen bars. Her journey on the island concludes with an amusing round of golf, though she struggles to escape a challenging bunker!
