Kirstie and Phil’s Love It or List It (Series 9, Episode 5)

In the newest installment of the series, we see the impact of escalating construction costs on budgets.

Kirstie, armed with years of renovation expertise, travels across the UK to resolve conflicts among couples and encourage them to appreciate their current homes. Simultaneously, Phil, buoyed by his success in the previous series, showcases stunning properties to convince families to consider selling their homes.

This episode takes us to Warwickshire, where we meet Gill and John. This couple is at odds over what to do with their two-bedroom house, inherited from family. With their children growing up, John believes that relocating closer to the city will be more appealing for their teenage years. Gill, however, cherishes her memories in the house and the nearby countryside, making it hard for her to think of living elsewhere.

Kirstie faces a tough challenge. She has to work with a £150,000 budget to revamp a home with a complicated layout and a long wishlist, all amid rising construction costs. On the other hand, Phil’s task is to persuade Gill to put their house on the market. He is committed to finding three impressive homes that offer ample space and are situated in vibrant areas.

It’s a difficult situation for both Kirstie and Phil, but what decision will Gill and John ultimately make?
