Coronation Street actor Bruno Langley has been axed from the ITV soap.
It follows claims of sexual assault made by woman against Bruno following an alleged incident in a Manchester nightclub.
Bruno, who had been on Coronation Street since 2001, denies the allegations.
However the actor, who plays Todd Grimshaw on Corrie, has been dropped by the soap.
A spokesperson for Coronation Street confirmed: “Bruno Langley is no longer contracted to Coronation Street.”
Bruno said: “I’d like to thank all of my friends who work on the show for their love, friendship and support during this extremely difficult period.”
The sudden exit is said to have left the show in chaos with upcoming scenes and storylines featuring Todd having to be reshot and reworked.
“Crew were heard discussing using a body double,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “New scenes show Adam Barlow telling Ken that Todd has left Weatherfield with his young ward Summer.”
Bruno’s axe comes a week after ITV launched an investigation into he claims.
A source told The Sun at the time: “He is very upset. This is devastating for him. A complaint has been received and is being taken very seriously.
“Bruno has been asked to give an account of what happened and that is being checked against the woman’s statement.”
Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was also looking into the claims. They said in the week: “At around 1am on Sunday, 1st October 2017, police received a report a woman in her 30s had been sexually assaulted at an entertainment venue. Inquires are ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
