Coronation Street spoiler: Pat Phelan’s dramatic exit will ‘push the boundaries’

Pat Phelan’s exit from Coronation Street will air after the watershed next week.

A string of episodes will air on ITV at 9PM across the week alongside the Britain’s Got Talent live shows.

Serial murderer Pat has already killed off four of the Street’s characters in a string of brutal murders.

Killer Pat, played by Connor McIntyre, was previously seen falling to his ‘death’ during episodes earlier this year. He was pushed off a cliff by wife Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver).

However it was later revealed that Pat had survived the fall and was planning his return to Weatherfield.

His dramatic comeback will end in one final showdown that Conor says will ‘push the boundaries’.

The actor said of airing the episodes after 9PM: “It gives us a bit more of a licence to go further with the story.

“We’ve pushed the boundaries, we’ve pushed the edge of it so we’ll have to see what the reaction is..”

He added: “We’ve taken the audience on a couple of false starts. They deserve the pay-off and I think it’s a decent one.”

Meanwhile, speaking at a press event, Connor admitted it was the “right time” to exit the soap despite being sad to leave the cast and crew.

“It’s been some ride, hasn’t it?” he said. “From three scenes up to where we are now. It’s the right time.

“The viewers have really stuck with us all the way through and we tested their patience.”

Coronation Street airs on ITV.

The show airs all next week (Monday, May 28 – Friday, June 1) at 9PM.
