Anne has become a familiar face to millions as The Governess, one of five Chasers on the popular ITV quiz.

Now she is going from answering the questions to asking them as the presenter of a brand new gameshow.

Britain’s Brightest Family will see sixteen clever clans from across the nation battle in a knock-out tournament to win the holiday of a lifetime.

Each team features three contestants, captained by an 11 to 16-year-old.

Questions will test them on literacy, numeracy, problem-solving and general knowledge – but it’s not just about how smart they are.

Teams must nominate players to answer, so viewers will also find out how well the family members know each other.

“The quality was so high overall,” Anne reveals. “We had families from all over, from Scotland to the South Coast. Every part of the country put up a great showing.

“The families that did best had strong, confident adults who’d brought up happy assertive children who thrived on competition and loved learning things.

“That’s the sort of family I’d love to see more of!”

Bosses are yet to announce exact airdates, but the show looks set to air in a coveted slot between episodes of Coronation Street.

“It’s a bit of a responsibility being the filling in a Coronation Street sandwich,” Anne added.

“It’s lovely to be trusted with such an amazing opportunity.”

The new format comes The Chase launched its own family-themed spin-off earlier this year.

Anne fans needn’t worry, as she will continue to appear as a Chaser alongside her new role.
