British teenager wows America’s Got Talent – after appearing on The Voice Kids

Courtney Hadwin won a golden buzzer on America’s Got Talent this week.

The 13-year-old from County Durham stunned the judges with her cover of Otis Redding’s Hard to Handle.

The panel made up of Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel were all on their feet after the song.

Howie went on to hit the golden buzzer, sending Courtney through to the live shows

“Bloody hell Courtney!” reacted Simon Cowell.

He added: “You were this shy little thing when you came out and then you sing and you’re like a lion.

“Genuinely incredible.”

Howie said: “You are not from this era, you’re from a whole different era.”

Courtney is now in with a shot of winning the show’s $1 million prize.

But as it happens, it wasn’t her first time on a TV talent show.

The British teenager previously appeared on The Voice Kids UK last year, where she made it as far as the final.

Mentored by Danny Jones, Courtney originally performed Nutbush City Limits in the blind auditions.

However she lost out to Jess Folley in the live final of the show, which returns for a second series this summer on ITV.

Last year’s coaches will.i.am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones will all return to The Voice Kids in 2018, alongside host Emma Willis.

Open to solo singers between the ages of seven and 14, the 2018 series will air on Saturday evenings on ITV soon.
