Amanda Holden reckons Colin Thackery will WIN Britain’s Got Talent 2019

Simon Cowell says the Chelsea pensioner "might be the one to beat"

Amanda Holden is backing singer Colin Thackery to win Britain’s Got Talent 2019 after his semi-final success.

Last night’s third live show saw Colin go straight through to the grand final, having received the most public votes.

Fellow Chelsea pensioners joined him for a touching rendition of Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll Meet Again’, dedicated to his late wife.

Now the judges think Colin’s success could see him go all the way.

Speaking on ITV2 spin-off Britain’s Got More Talent afterwards, Simon Cowell said: “Colin might be the one to beat here.”

However, Amanda went a step further, sticking her neck out with a prediction.

“For me, I’m gonna put it out there, Colin is gonna win the whole thing,” she proclaimed.

Discussing how he could get there, David Walliams said the war veteran should continue in the same vein.

“I think it really worked doing a song from that era, the second World War,” he commented.

“So I think another song from that era, ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’ or something, would work really well.”

Comedian Kojo Anim also made the final tonight, after the judges backed him over magician John Archer.

He and Colin will compete against Dave and Finn, Flakefleet Primary, Siobhan Phillips, 4MG and five other contestants in Sunday’s series conclusion.

One talent that hasn’t been doing as well is danger, with sword balancers Vardanyan Brothers and knife-throwers Gomonov both missing out despite impressive displays.

Alesha Dixon reckons viewers are simply finding them too hard to stomach.

“I think the dangerous acts, we love to hate them,” she commented.

“You respect them and they’re thrilling to watch, but it’s quite painful. It’s like, I don’t really wanna watch that again, once is enough!

“They’re outstanding, but it’s about winning the hearts of the people.”

Escape artist Jonathan Goodwin will be hoping to change that when he takes to the stage on Friday.

The Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals continue tonight at 7.30pm and 9.00pm on ITV, with More Talent immediately afterwards on ITV2.
