A new series of Strictly Come Dancing is on its way but not everyone is rushing to sign up.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One this autumn and show bosses are currently confirming this year’s line up.
However a number of names have politely declined, with TV host Gaby Roslin one of those to reveal their reasons why.
Gaby said in an interview she’d “never ever” take part, revealing she was ‘too self conscious’.
The presenter told the Daily Express newspaper: “I love it [Strictly] but absolutely never, never, never, ever. They know I won’t. “I’m too self-conscious. I love watching it but there is no way.
“But I would actually poo my pants before I went on air and I don’t think that would be a good look for anybody on my television.”
She added to the tabloid: “There’s no way I’d wear skintight body lycra and dance.
“Anyone that knows me knows I’m self conscious. I’ve spoken about it openly. I’m shy. I’m a very shy person. So, no absolutely no way. On every single level it makes me my most shyest.”
Gaby is far from the only celeb to turn down the show.
Steps star Claire Richards says watching bandmate Faye Tozer take part last year as put her off.
“Watching Faye do it and seeing how hard you have to work, I don’t know if it’s for me,” Claire told The Sun. “I hate learning dance routines with a passion, I find it excruciating.
“The pros are quite tough on their partners, which they have to be, but I don’t respond very well to that. I would go the other way and not want to try hard.”
Sir Patrick Stewart previously revealed he said no to the show while TV presenter Kate Humble has also discussed rejecting an offer from show bosses.
The host of wildlife shows such as Animal Park and Springwatch had gone to meet with producers but freaked out over the thought of going under a Strictly makeover.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper in 2017: “When we got to the meeting, the more talk there was of sequins, make-up and Strictly Takes Two, the more I could feel myself pouring with sweat.”
Kate said she felt close to having a panic attack “at the thought of wearing make up and dresses” before deciding the show was “just not me”.
“There are so many people who love it and get so much out of it but I will stick to animals and being mucky. I am better at that. That’s more my comfort zone,” Kate admitted.
Spice Girl Mel C has also claimed in the past she’d been asked to take part in the series but always said no.
However some celebs who could say yes to the show this year are rumoured to include former England manager Sam Allardyce and Blue Peter’s Radzi Chinyanganya.
More names rumoured for Strictly Come Dancing are Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin, TV and radio presenter Chris Evans and Popstars Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton.
Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launches in September on BBC One.
