The Voice UK: Cedric Neal’s amazing audition gets all four coaches turning

Cedric Neal got all four coaches turning for him on The Voice UK 2019 auditions tonight.

Cedric has been performing all his life, appearing in shows on both Broadway and the West End.

Having originally been born in Dallas, Texas he now lives in Brighton with his partner.

For his blind audition, the 43-year-old belted out Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder for Jennifer Hudson, Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs.

Cedric’s upbeat performance got all four coaches to spin for him and left Jennifer handing him both her shoes.

“That means you got soul!” explained Will.i.am.

Sir Tom told Cedric: “When you take a song like that and still make it your own, it’s great. You’re a unique singer and there’s plenty of room on my team for you.”

“You completely owned it,” added Olly.

Will.i.am agreed: “You did your own version of that. It takes a lot of skill to take a Stevie Wonder song and make it yours.”

Jennifer said: “I know a skilled vocalist when I hear one. You deserve to be on a show like this because we need voices like this and I’m grateful The Voice is here today for voices like yours to be heard.”

Choosing which team to join, Cedric thanked the coaches before announcing: “I’m going to go with Sir Tom Jones.”

More acts on The Voice UK this weekend were Dean Mac, who got the coaches hot under the collar with his performance of Pony by Ginuwine, and teenager Bukky Oronti.

We also met The Flat Pack made up of Duncan, Jamie and Nathan; three best friends from Brighton who work painting and decorating jobs together and share a love of singing.

The Voice UK 2019’s blind auditions continue Saturday nights at 8PM on ITV with the coaches and host Emma Willis.
