Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo are confirmed to host BBC One’s The Greatest Dancer.
The new Saturday night dance talent show is expected to begin in 2019.
The new show, from the makers of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, will feature a host of talent from across the world of dance as they give the performances of their lives.
From ballet to jazz, hip hop to Bollywood, the show is open to anyone. Expect dramatic auditions, incredible challenges and remarkable live performances as dancers swing, swirl and sashay onto the stage each week in the hope of being named The Greatest Dancer.
The Greatest Dancer marks singer and presenter Alesha’s return to Saturday nights on BBC One after she won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 and went on to feature as a judge on the show between 2009 and 2011.
Current Britain’s Go Talent judge Alesha said: “I can’t wait to be a part of The Greatest Dancer and work with Jordan. As a massive fan of dance I’m so excited about the prospect of finding amazing new dance talent.”
Presenter and dancer Jordan first found fame in 2009 after his dance troupe Diversity won Britain’s Got Talent. He has subsequently gone on to present Jordan and Perri’s Ultimate Block Party and Dancing on Ice.
Jordan said: “I’m so excited to be a part of The Greatest Dancer. Coming from a talent show myself with Diversity has shown me how much a show like this can change your life, so to be on the other side hosting is going to be an awesome experience.”
Kate Phillips, Controller Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC said: “Alesha and Jordan are the perfect pairing for The Greatest Dancer. Their love of dance is clear and I know they’ll be great hosts to the huge array of talented hopefuls coming to Saturday nights on BBC One.”
