Strictly Come Dancing’s Debbie McGee denies Giovanni Pernice romance

Strictly Come Dancing’s Debbie McGee has laughed off rumours of a romance with her pro partner Giovanni Pernice.

Their chemistry on the dance floor and THAT kiss in the first week has shocked viewers.

And now Debbie has been forced to deny there’s anything romantic going on between the unlikely star pairing.

Debbie said: “I can categorically say that I’m not romantically connected with Giovanni. Look at me, I’m older than his mother. I may be blonde, but I’m not stupid.

“If I was in my twenties he’d probably break my heart, but I’m not. I have lots of Italian friends, so I’m used to Italian men. They’re very friendly.”

In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Debbie went on to praise Giovanni and said the pair had “clicked”.

“I thought I would get one of the older dancers like Brendan Cole or Anton Du Beke because of my age. I was over the moon when I was paired with Giovanni,” she explained, “We laughed with each other and I felt immediately comfortable with him.”

Debbie, widow of late magician and former Strictly contestant Paul Daniels, went on: “We have the same work ethic and that’s why we’ve got such a strong relationship. He’s a very good teacher.

“We’re doing between four and six hours a day. Strictly just makes you close, it is special.”

Tonight, Debbie and Giovanni will dance the Quickstep to Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off from Shall We Dance? as part of the Movie themed special.

Strictly Come Dancing 2017’s live shows continue TONIGHT at 6:35PM on BBC One.
