Simon Cowell has branded David Walliams “unsackable” from Britain’s Got Talent.
Ahead of the new series starting, Simon says he can’t imagine ever letting David go from the show.
Both Simon and David return to the series this weekend alongside Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.
It’s the seventh year they’ve been together and Simon says David is “20 times worse” with his antics.
“I always say to him calm it down. But this year it’s 20 times worse. You can’t stop him,” Simon told ITV’s Lorraine.
But despite being the boss, Simon added: “He’s always been unsackable. The first time I sat down with him, he came to the dressing room when I was doing X Factor and I pitched him the show. We had one of the worst meetings I’ve ever had. It was bad. I thought, ‘This is never going to happen’. Then, a year later, we had another conversation and he agreed to it.
“He and the show are a perfect match. He gets all the craziness and a lot of the people who come on the show are like the people who used to be on Little Britain. That’s why he gets it.”
Meanwhile, More Talent host Stephen Mulhern has suggested that the BGT judges won’t change for many years yet.
He said: “The judges have been the same for seven years.
“I don’t think they’ll change for the next two, three, four years.
“Unlike The X Factor I think Britain’s Got Talent will stay the same.
“It just works, everyone gets on and everyone has a good time.”
Britain’s Got Talent airs on Saturday 14th April, 8pm on ITV.
Ant and Dec return to host the main show, while Stephen fronts More Talent on ITV2 straight after from 9:25PM.
