Sherif Lanre ‘left Love Island 2019 after “a silly mistake”‘

Sherif Lanre left Love Island 2019 after “a silly mistake”, it’s been reported.

It was confirmed by Love Island bosses today that Sherif had “mutually agreed” with producers to leave the show.

A spokesperson for Love Island said that Sherif had broken the rules but did not reveal exactly happened.

Now a TV insider has shed a little more information on why Sherif left Love Island.

“Sherif made a silly mistake and was immediately summoned to the Beach Hut – it wasn’t a criminal matter and he was spoken to and agreed to leave,” the source told the Daily Mirror newspaper.

They added: “Sherif knew he had to leave immediately after being called to the Beach Hut.

“No security were involved.”

Another source has claimed that Sherif’s exit would not be broadcast on the show nor will the reaction of the other Islanders.

Instead, voiceover Ian Stirling will simply announce that he has left.

In a short statement issued this afternoon, Sherif himself said of his exit: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.

“I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.

“I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”

20-year-old Sherif from London is a chef and semi-pro rugby player.

He entered the villa on Day 1 and was coupled up with Anna Vakili before his departure.

Love Island 2019 continues nightly on ITV2 at 9PM.

On Sunday nights, spin-off show Aftersun airs at 10PM with Caroline Flack.
