Scarlett Moffatt shuts down ‘ludicrous’ Ant McPartlin romance rumours

Scarlett Moffatt has put a stop to rumours of a romance between her and Ant McPartlin.

The rather ridiculous speculation followed Ant’s split from his wife earlier this year.

But, for avoidance of doubt, Scarlett has insisted there has never been anything between them.

“That’s not a story. Ant is like my big brother. It’s so ludicrous it didn’t even warrant a response,” she said. “Everyone who knows us knows how silly it is. I can laugh about it.”

Speaking to You magazine, Scarlett praised Ant and Dec for being her “mentors”.

“Ant and Dec have been so good to me,” she said. “They’re my mentors. I feel I owe it to them to try not to talk about them. Out of respect.

“They are such genuinely nice people. I wish I could tell everyone how amazing they are, though.”

Scarlett has also revealed how she keeps a picture of the duo by her bed from their time at Disney last year.

“It even beats me in the jungle, it’s like the highlight of my working life. To do the Saturday Night Takeaway finale in Disney World, honestly, was my dream,” she said. “So every morning when I wake up and see that photo, I’m like, ‘I’m living my dream’.”

Earlier this year, Scarlett said Ant and Dec were both “like brothers” to her.

“They’re like the brothers I never had,” she said. They’re genuinely lovely, down to earth people who offer me a lot of brilliant career advice.”

Scarlett added: “Honestly walking into the first ever script meeting and realising ‘wow I’m a part of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, just casually sat having a cup of tea with the most amazing people at ITV, discussing the script.'”

The Gogglebox star returned to Saturday Night Takeaway this year after joining last series.

“Being Mary Poppins in the grand finale in Florida was amazing,” Scarlett said of her 2017 debut on the show. “A proper pinch me moment!

“I know things like that only happen once in a life time and being on stage alongside Ant, Dec and Cat Deeley (who stole the Crown Jewels) the three heroes I watched every Saturday on SMTV live is a moment I wish I could bottle up and give to other people as the happiness I felt was overwhelming. “
