Katie McGlynn rumoured for Strictly Come Dancing line up

Former Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn has been rumoured for Strictly Come Dancing.

Katie played Sinead Tinker on Corrie since 2013 before announcing her exit last year.

Now she’s being tipped for a place on the latest Strictly Come Dancing line up.

Katie would follow in the footsteps of fellow Coronation Street stars Catherine Tyldesley and Georgia May Foote who have both competed in the BBC One series.

It wouldn’t be Katie’s first time dancing on TV, recently appearing in The Greatest Dancer Celebrity special for Sport Relief.

A source shared with the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Katie has been in talks with Strictly and it’s looking positive. She’s cleared her diary for the end of the year as she’d love to do it.

“She’s shown her talent on the BBC’s Greatest Dancer for Sport Relief and would love to improve even further.

They added: “She’d be a great pull for the show as soap fans loved her on Corrie.”

Other names linked to the Strictly Come Dancing line up this year include TikTok star Holly H, TV host Michelle Ackerley, Radio DJ presenter Maya Jama, and Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing, who was forced to quit last year’s show due to injury.

The BBC One series is set to return in the autumn but is facing challenges in the new era of lockdown restrictions and social distancing.

However Strictly’s head judge Shirley Ballas is confident the show will make it to screens.

She told Hello! magazine: “Of course everything changes day-to-day but I have spoken to Strictly’s executive producer, and I am 99 percent sure that we will be on screens in one form or another.

“We all realise that when the colder months come, we need some glitz and glamour – it’s like going to Hollywood or Vegas and it’s something that the whole family can enjoy.”

Strictly Come Dancing typically begins in September.
