Rachel Shenton rumoured for Strictly Come Dancing after Oscar win

Hollyoaks star turned Oscar winner Rachel Shenton has been tipped for Strictly Come Dancing.

Rachel made a name for herself as Mitzeee Minniver on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks between 2010 and 2013.

Earlier this year she picked up the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film for The Silent Child, written and starring herself and directed by fiance Chris Overton.

Now, Strictly Come Dancing are said to be interested.

The Sun reports that Rachel is on a wish list of potential names for the autumn series.

“Rachel came across brilliantly at the Oscars and it was said in the offices that she could be a great person for this year’s Strictly,” a source told the tabloid.

They added: “She’s really talented, amiable and looks great on camera…she ticks all the boxes.”

While Strictly’s 2018 series still has a while to go before launching, a whole number of celebs have been linked to the series.

One of the names Strictly Come Dancing bosses are reportedly “desperate” to sign is X Factor star turned TV host Rylan Clark-Neal.

The Chase’s Mark Labbett has also been tipped to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, alongside former England footballer David James and Actress Michelle Keegan.

More rumoured celebs include The 2015 Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussein, TV actor Les Dennis, boxing legend Frank Bruno and even This Morning’s own host Holly Willoughby. Despite hosting Dancing On Ice, she said: “I’m obsessed with Strictly, so I’d love to learn to dance.”

Strictly Come Dancing will begin on BBC One in the autumn.
