The makers of Love Island are planning to launch a brand new dating show.
The production company behind the hit ITV2 series is working on a new format, where the singletons already know one another.
Dubbed ‘Friends Without Benefits’, the show will supposedly bring pals together in the hope of sparking romance.
The Sun reports that the idea is currently “in the early stages of development” by producers.
The insider explained: “The concept aims to bring mates – who’ve always wanted to date but felt too nervous to risk their friendship – together and hope that romance finally blossoms.
“Contestants could be colleagues or old school friends – it doesn’t matter how you met just if you’ve always had hidden feelings for the person.”
The show follows Survival Of The Fittest, also made by the people behind Love Island, which launched last Sunday night on ITV2.
Currently airing nightly at 9PM, Survival of the Fittest sees a group of young, hot singles living together under the searing sun as they take part in the ultimate battle of the sexes, in order to win a big cash prize of £40,000.
A team of Girls and a team of Boys will battle it out in a series of stunning physical and mental challenges to determine which sex has the upper hand, while romantic dates will test their loyalties to the limit.
Will the girls put sisters before misters and will the boys choose mates over dates? Or will the temptation be too much and they end up in bed with the enemy?
The show, hosted by Laura Whitmore, started with a peak audience of just under a million viewers.
