I’m A Celebrity: How Celebrity Cyclone will work with John Barrowman’s injury

The Celebrity Cyclone takes place on I’m A Celebrity 2018 this week – but how will it work with John Barrowman?

The final weekend of I’m A Celeb will see one of its biggest Bushtucker Trials.

Celebrity Cyclone sees four campmates battle high-powered wind machines and torrents of water to hold their places on a slippery slide.

However this year’s trial will see some changes after John Barrowman injured his foot.

He currently has his ankle in an orthopaedic boot following a nasty sprain after a fall in the camp.

John will still compete in the Cyclone challenge after show bosses created his own special part for him to play.

“We’ve had to adapt it because of John’s sprained ankle. We’ve made a special role for him,” it was explained by I’m A Celeb’s trial boss on Extra Camp.

They revealed: “John’s the keeper of the stars. He has to solve a puzzle to release the stars, throw them to the other three and they’ll then take on the course.”

Alongside John, the remaining trio of contestants – Emily Atack, Fleur East, Harry Redknapp – will take part in the trial tonight.

As always, they’ll have to battle uphill with the stars in hand against a torrent of obstacles hurtling down towards them. If they win the stars, they’ll win a luxury final feast on what will be their penultimate night in camp.

Meanwhile it’s been revealed that host Holly Willoughby will also take part in the Celebrity Cyclone for spin-off show Extra Camp.

Holly will team up with Joe and his Extra Camp co-hosts Joel Dommett and Scarlett Moffatt to complete the challenge.

An insider told The Daily Star newspaper: “We never thought that we would even get Holly out to Australia, let alone doing a Bushtucker.

“There won’t be any bugs but it’ll be a treat for viewers.

“We’re going to throw everything at her. Holly’s going to get wet and wild!”

Ant and Dec previously conquered the Celebrity Cyclone themselves in 2011 as part of ITV’s Text Santa.

I’m A Celebrity airs tonight at the slightly later time of 9.10pm on ITV. Extra Camp – featuring Holly’s attempt at the trial – will air on ITV2 after the main show.
