Footballers’ Wives to make a comeback after ten years off air?

ITV drama Footballers’ Wives could be about to make a comeback to TV.

The series, which followed the fictional Earls Park Football Club, aired for 5 series between 2002 and 2006.

Initially popular, the show even spawned a number of spin-off shows including Footballers’ Wives: Extra Time and Footballers’ Wives TV on ITV2..

But ratings declined in its later years leading to the cancellation.

Now more than a decade on from the last ever episode, there’s speculation the series could be making a return to telly.

Footballers’ Wives star Gary Lucy, prompted the rumours with a recent interview.

Asked about a potential Footballers’ Wives revival, he told The Sun newspaper: “It was a fantastic time in my life.

“I was 21-years-old, I was living the dream at the time and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“There has been loads of talk about it but would I go back? I’d absolutely love to revisit that at some point but who knows what the future brings.”

Gary starred in Footballers’ Wives for the first three series as footballer Kyle Pascoe who was married to Chardonnay, played by Susie Amy.

Other stars of the ITV series include Zöe Lucker, who played Tanya Turner and Gillian Taylforth, who played Jackie Pascoe-Webb.

Sadly their co-star John Forgeham, who played Frank Laslett, passed away earlier last year aged 75 after a fall.
