Strictly Come Dancing 2019 bosses are said to be targeting RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage for the new series.
Michelle has become a much-loved star as a judge on the wildly popular American drag contest.
Now she could be about to become the contestant, as BBC One reportedly wants to sign her up for Strictly.
According to The Sun, chiefs think Michelle would help lure younger viewers to the dance extravaganza.
They also reckon her judging experience could result in fireworks with Strictly’s own experts.
“This is a very strategic signing from the BBC,” a source said. ” Michelle has a huge following, especially in the gay community.
“Since she is known as the fiery judge on Drag Race, producers are pre-empting her clapping back at any of the harsh comments from the Strictly panel, which will make great TV.”
Of course, the Beeb may also see Michelle’s potential involvement in its highest-rating show as an opportunity to promote its own version of Drag Race.
Production of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is now underway ahead of its premiere on BBC Three later this year.
Both RuPaul and Michelle are involved, with comedians Alan Carr and Graham Norton joining them on the panel.
Away from Drag Race, Michelle has slowly been building her profile on this side of the pond.
The former Seduction member was a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, finishing in fifth place.
Last year, she joined Ireland’s Got Talent as a judge alongside X Factor stalwart Louis Walsh.
She has also recently performed in the West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and made a cameo appearance on The Only Way Is Essex.
Other names rumoured for Strictly this year include Olympic rower James Cracknell and former Corrie actress Lucy Fallon.
