Dancing On Ice 2019: Gemma Collins hits back at Jason Gardiner’s comments about her weight

Gemma Collins has hit back at Dancing On Ice’s Jason Gardiner after comments about her weight.

Dancing On Ice contestant Gemma and judge Jason have already come to blows on air during the current series.

The pair ended up in a nasty clash just two weeks in, with Jason slamming Gemma’s skating skills and remarking that she wouldn’t be able to complete lifts.

Now Gemma has hit back and called for Jason not to go ‘personal’ with his feedback.

“I do agree with some of the comments [Jason] said — I can’t skate as well as the others — but the only reason I didn’t like what he said was because he brought up about the lifts and I felt that was regarding my weight,” she said this week.

In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Gemma explained: “It felt like he was saying no one could lift me. At the end of the day, the show’s not called Lifts On Ice, it’s called Dancing On Ice. He did want to sue me but I think he’s not doing it now, I think he realised he shouldn’t have personally gone for me.

“There’s so much more he could have said and he didn’t need to bring up about the lift and the weight.”

She added: “I do work hard. People just can’t believe I’m a big girl and I’m successful.”

Last Sunday night saw Gemma take a nasty tumble on the ice in the fourth live show.

While her latest routine appeared to be going well, Gemma suffered a trip right at the end and fell flat onto the ice.

Gemma revealed nasty injuries to her legs following the episode but has vowed to continue on with the competition.

She wrote on Twitter: “Be back Sunday guys don’t worry nothing is going to stop me your support is overwhelming and keeping me going #nopainnogain @dancingonice physio is going well and will be ok.”

Dancing On Ice 2019 continues live this Sunday night on ITV from 6PM with a fairytale themed episode.
