Cheryl signs new record deal ahead music comeback

Cheryl has signed a new record deal ahead of a musical comeback next month.

The ex Girls Aloud singer and former X Factor judge is set to release a new album soon, the first since 2014’s Only Human.

The Sun reports that Cheryl has signed to label 3Beat, a part of Universal, after working on new music for the past six months.

“The recording process has been driven solely by her and she wanted to retain as much of the creative control as possible,” a source said. “After several meetings she did a deal with 3Beat because they’ve had huge success in the singles chart in the past few years and would give her creative freedom.

“She has a string of singles she wants to release before committing to an album and now she can test the waters to do whatever she wants.”

It’s understood that Cheryl’s first single – Love Made Me Do It – will be released in November.

She’s tipped to perform the song on The X Factor ahead of a second single next year.

As well as her music, Cheryl has also signed up to a new BBC One talent show.

August saw the BBC announce that Cheryl would join Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse as ‘Dance Captains’ on its new talent show.

The programme is produced by Simon Cowell’s Syco company together with the makers of Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor.

The Greatest Dancer aims to find the UK’s best dancer across a wide variety of genres. It’s slated to begin in 2019 on BBC One on Saturday nights.

Speaking about her new role, Cheryl said: “I’m so excited to be part of The Greatest Dancer! I’m looking for acts with real passion, who are going to push boundaries and give it their all.

“From my own dance background, I know the dedication and commitment dancing takes. I can’t wait to get started.”

The series will begin in the new year on BBC One.
