Cheryl, Matthew Morrison, and Oti Mabuse ‘set to return to The Greatest Dancer’

Cheryl, Matthew Morrison, and Oti Mabuse are all set to return for series two of The Greatest Dancer.

The first ever series of the new dance show concluded live earlier this year as the winner was crowned after eight weeks of competition.

A second series was confirmed shortly after although as yet there’s no official word on who will make up the judges.

But host Jordan Banjo – who fronted the show alongside Alesha Dixon – says he expects everyone to be back.

The first series saw singer and performer Cheryl, Strictly Come Dancing pro Oti Mabuse and Broadway star Matthew Morrison on the line up.

“As far as I know everyone is coming back,” Jordan told The Sun newspaper.

He also teased some potential big changes for the second run in 2020.

“I’ve already heard loads about what’s to come,” he shared, “We’ve learnt a lot and I’m sure the show is going to come back bigger and better than last time.”

The Greatest Dancer features a unique audition format where acts perform on a stage with a two-way mirror between them and the audience.

Those in the crowd are in control of the contestants’ fate, voting on whether or not to open the mirror.

If over 75% of the audience vote for an act, the mirror opens and the contestant makes it through.

From there, the judges take control, picking dancers for their teams where they go head to head in a series of live shows.

The Greatest Dancer is made for the BBC by Syco and Thames TV, makers of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Announcing the second series earlier this year, Nigel Hall, Global Head of Television for Syco Entertainment, said: “The Greatest Dancer is a joyous, uplifting and exciting show. We have loved making this first series.

“We are absolutely delighted the programme will return to screens on BBC One in 2020 – and are looking forward to continuing our working relationship with the BBC.”
