What’s the plot of season 3?

Season 3 will see a change in the order of the books, focusing on the relationship between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and one Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) from the fourth instalment of the novels.

Penelope Featherington has reached the end of her patience with her once cherished infatuation for Colin Bridgerton, especially after his less-than-flattering remarks about her previously.

Now, she’s on a quest to find a spouse who’ll grant her the freedom she craves to maintain her secret identity as Lady Whistledown, away from the prying eyes of her family. Despite her resolve, Penelope’s lack of self-assurance leads to disastrous attempts at securing a match on the social scene.

On the other hand, Colin returns from his travels sporting a refreshed appearance and newfound confidence, only to find that Penelope, his longstanding confidante, is now indifferent towards him.

In an effort to rekindle their friendship, Colin proposes to coach Penelope on gaining confidence to better her chances of marriage. However, as Penelope begins to attract suitors, Colin is forced to confront his true feelings for her.

Amidst these developments, Penelope’s relationship with Eloise becomes strained as Eloise befriends an unexpected ally, adding to Penelope’s challenges in concealing her secret life as Lady Whistledown amidst her rising popularity in high society.

Who’s on the cast?

Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan will return to lead the cast of the new series in their roles of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.

Joining the cast will be Hannah Dodd (Anatomy of a Scandal) who will star as Francesca Bridgerton taking over the role from Ruby Stokes who left and is the lead on another project for Netflix (Lockwood & Co.).

Netflix share: “Francesca Bridgerton is a bit of a mystery within her chatty, extroverted family. Despite her reserved nature, she goes along to get along when it comes to society affairs, fortified with a dry wit and pragmatism that confound the fickle ton yet seem to draw attention when she least desires it.”

Also new to the cast for the upcoming season are Daniel Francis (Stay Close), Sam Phillips (The Crown) and James Phoon (Wreck).

The full list of series regulars for the new season are Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma), Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), Harriet Cains (Philipa Featherington), Bessie Carter (Prudence Featherington), Jessica Madsen (Cressida Cowper), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington), and Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown)

They’re joined by Hugh Sachs (Brimsley), Emma Naomi (Alice Mondrich) and Kathryn Drysdale (Genevieve Delacroix)

For now the first two seasons are available on Netflix UK here.

Meanwhile, a fourth series has already been confirmed to go into production.
