X Factor’s Alexandra Burke signs new record deal after Strictly success

Alexandra Burke is plotting a musical comeback after signing a new record deal.

The former X Factor winner has been away from the Top 40 for a good few years now, despite a successful debut era after winning the ITV series.

Her first album in 2009 went to Number 1 along with hit singles including Start Without You, Bad Boys and winner’s song Hallelujah.

However Alexandra’s career stalled when her follow up suffered repeated delays.

It wasn’t until 2012 that Alexandra released a second album, Heartbreak on Hold, which only peaked at Number 18.

Her last Top 40 hit was Let It Go which reached Number 33 in May of 2012.

Now according to The Sun newspaper, Alexandra has signed a new record contract with Decca Records.

A new album called The Truth Is is slated for release in March next year.

It all follows Alexandra’s success on Strictly Come Dancing, where she made last weekend’s final.

Alexandra tweeted this week after just missing out on the title: “I can’t believe it’s all over! Thank you all for your kind and supportive messages.

“It has been a dream being apart of this years strictly! I wish I could rewind time and do it all again! So much love for you @gorkamarquez1 Thank you for everything x”

During her time on the BBC One series, Alexandra was on the receiving end of some nasty abuse online.

However ahead of Christmas, she hit back: “I’ve had ups and downs, but I’ve done something that has brought me such joy.

“There is so much more love out there, so I concentrate on that positivity. The trolls can just go away!”
