X Factor CANCEL public vote after sound problems on ITV

The X Factor has CANCELLED its latest public vote after sound problems in Saturday’s show.

The third instalment of the latest episode saw sound problems that left some of the contestants sounding like ‘robots’.

At first some thought it may have just been an effect for the Fright Night themed Halloween show, but the issues continued as Danny Tetley performed.

A message then appeared on screen: “We are sorry for the temporary interference in sound.”

As a result of the “technical issue”, The X Factor CANCELLED the Saturday public vote.

Instead, lines will open in tonight’s (Sunday) results show. However, quite how this will work has not been revealed just yet.

A spokesperson for ITV commented: “We apologise for the technical issue that affected the sound on part of tonight’s episode of The X Factor. We are investigating why this happened.

“We can confirm tonight’s public vote has been cancelled and will instead open in tomorrow night’s show at 8.30pm on ITV.”

The problems were made worse because the Saturday episode was pre-recorded in the after afternoon to allow Robbie Williams to make a flight to South America.

He’s set to miss Sunday’s show – as well as the following two weekends – due to touring commitments.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper before the episode: “Everyone is frantic behind the scenes….it means the dress rehearsals will kick off at midday – several hours earlier.

“The show itself will be filmed as live at 4.30pm. It’s stressful to say the least but everyone is rallying around to make it a success.”

This weekend will see music legend Nile Rodgers join the show as a guest judge to takeover from Robbie.

It’s not his first time on The X Factor this year, previously appearing at the judges’ houses stage – although that was alongside Louis Tomlinson rather than Robbie.
He will also stand in for Robbie next Saturday and Sunday night.

Nile said: “I had such a great time with Louis at the Judge’s House in Ibiza a couple of weeks ago that when the opportunity came to step in for Robbie I could not say ‘no’.”

As things stand, Robbie’s groups category is made up of duo Misunderstood, Acacia & Aaliyah and five piece boy band United Vibe.

He lost his first act last weekend when LMA Choir left the competition alongside Janice Robinson.

Robbie’s acts make up a total of 12 who are left in the contest.

Also still singing are all four of the Girls’ category mentored by Simon Cowell, made up of Bella Penfold, Molly Scott, Scarlett Lee, and Shan Ako.

Remaining in the Boys category, mentored by Louis Tomlinson, are Anthony Russell, Brendan Murray and Dalton Andre Harris. Ayda Williams leads The Overs, now made up of just Danny Tetley and Giovanni Spano.

The X Factor 2018 is back Sunday night at 8:30PM on ITV.
