Why Brian Gilligan auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent 2019

Brian Gilligan has revealed the personal reasons behind his Britain’s Got Talent audition.

Brian wowed the Britain’s Got Talent judges with a cover of I’ll Never Love Again from A Star Is Born.

He spoke to the judges about working in the West End before a family tragedy saw him almost quit music altogether.

After his audition, Brian got four yeses straight through to the next round.

Appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain today, Brian explained just why he decided to audition.

He said: “I suppose the main reason, the significant reason for me to do the show, I was trying to find a motivation out of a struggle to do something that would be a massive challenge and expose me on a platform in front of four judges to give their opinion.

“I wanted to hear it from them. To go out and perform and not know what the reaction would be from the audience.

“It’s psychological, a boost of confidence. It’s given me a different energy and I want to get up and do another round.”

Opening up on struggling after the death of his brother, Brian continued: “I wanted a challenge and a motivation to get up as a singer and a solo artist specifically to spur myself on because I’ve been struggling with this depression and these up and down feelings.

“Sometimes you wake up and feel great, sometimes you feel down in the dumps.

“You’re quite expose din that way. Your strength is you and you have to get yourself through these performances by yourself.”

In his audition, Brian impressed the judges with his “delicate” singing voice.

David Walliams praised: “You sing with such passion and intensity, it’s really compelling. We can see how much this means to you. You’re a superb talent.

Alesha Dixon agreed: “It was so delicate. You drew us all in. You did it justice. It was beautiful.”

Amanda Holden added: “I really hope this changes everything for you.”

And Simon Cowell concluded: “I don’t think you could’ve chosen a more perfect song.”

Britain’s Got Talent auditions continue Saturday nights on ITV.
