Here’s a full recap of The Voice UK 2018 winner Ruti Olajugbagbe’s journey from her first blind audition to the final.
Ruti appeared on the third episode of this year’s show where her cover of George Ezra’s Budapest got all Sir Tom Jones coaches spinning.
Very much the underdog, Ruti wasn’t the favourite to win but sailed through each stage all the way to the final last weekend where she triumphed over Donel Mangena in the public vote.
Now ITV has shared a 10 minute video, reliving Ruti’s journey and performances from her first to the last.
The clip comes as Ruti’s first single heads for the top spot.
Shortly after the live live on Saturday, Ruti released her winner’s song on iTunes here.
The single is a cover of The Cranberries’ track Dreams, which Ruti closed the live grand final with.
The song has already shot up the iTunes chart and is currently the Number 1 download at the time of writing. The song has taken over current Official Number 1 song Freaky Friday, as well as Dua Lip and Calvin Harris new track One Kiss.
Reacting to her victory last night, Ruti tweeted: “Whhhaaaattttt is going ooooonnn????!!!!! Thank you to everyone who voted!!! My cover of dreams is out now!!! (what?!?) ???”
18-year-old student Ruti from Essex competed in the final for Team Tom.
On Team Jennifer was Belle Voci, a duo made up of friends 26-year-old Sophie from Norwich and 25-year-old Emily from Mayfair.
Team Will’s finalist was 16-year-old student Donel Mangena from Southampton. Lastly, on Team Olly was 27-year-old student Lauren Bannon from Weymouth.
The Voice UK airs on ITV.
The show will return for a third series on ITV – and eighth overall – in 2019.
