The Voice UK to replace cancelled Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend

The Voice UK will move to an earlier time in this Saturday night’s TV schedules.

The singing competition, originally scheduled to air at 8:30PM, will now start at the earlier time of 7PM.

It’ll be a two-hour long show as the second round of knockouts take place.

Coaches Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs can each pick only one act from their teams to progress in the competition, so there are some tough decisions to make. Helping the coaches make those decisions are very special guests Craig David, The Black Eyed Peas, Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis and The Voice UK’s reigning champion Mo Jamil.

The Voice UK will replace Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway which will take at least a week off following Ant’s arrest on suspicion of drink-driving following a collision in London on Sunday. A repeat of Through The Keyhole will also air in place of SNT, following The Voice.

This week’s Saturday Night Takeaway was due to feature Alan Carr as the guest announcer, while cast members from Coronation Street were set to play Make ‘Em Laugh.

“Ant has decided to go back into treatment and step down from his current TV commitments,” a spokesperson for the star said this afternoon. “He has spoken with Dec and ITV today and asked for time off for the foreseeable future.

“As such ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ will not be going ahead this Saturday.”

ITV added in a statement: “ITV has taken a joint decision with Ant and Dec’s team not to broadcast Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend.

“We will be reviewing options for the last two episodes of the series (March 31 and April 7) which would not feature Ant who is taking time off to seek treatment.

“We very much hope that he gets the help that he needs.”
