The Voice UK: Kalon Rae’s blind audition gets a big reaction

Kalon Rae took on the final round of The Voice UK 2018 auditions this Saturday night on ITV.

The last of this year’s auditions saw hopeful Kalon Rae trying to win over the coaches with a performance of Yazoo’s Only You.

Kalon is a 30-year-old vocal coach and musician from London.

He was hoping for a spin from one of the four coaches on Saturday night.

And Kalon got that spin, with Sir Tom Jones turning to complete his team.

“You sound great, I love where you go the falsetto, I loved the whole thing,” Sir Tom said.

The Voice UK judges will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones and Olly Murs concluded the hunt for the best singers for their teams this week but free spots in the next round were close to zero.

Ahead of the final round of auditions Teams Olly, Will and Tom each had just one free space while Team Jennifer had two places to fill from the remaining contestants still to sing.

It therefore proved harder than ever for this week’s hopefuls to get the coaches turning.

But Kalon did and got himself a spot in the battle rounds.

Host Emma Willis returned to host the final round of auditions as the last crop of hopefuls looked to claim a place in one of the coaches’ teams.

They needed just one coach to turn to make it, although if more than one coach spins they then have the power to pick which team to join.

However if none of the coaches turn – and with teams close to full that’s more likely than ever this weekend – the panel lose their right to see them.

The coaches will stay with their backs to the stage while the contestant must make a lonely exit to the side of the stage without speaking to or seeing the coaches.

The Voice UK airs Saturday nights on ITV.

The first of the battle rounds will air next weekend.
