A year on from The Voice UK 2017 – where is last year’s winner now?
If you can’t quite remember, it was Team Jennifer Hudson’s Mo Jamil who won The Voice UK last year in 2017.
Weeks after his win, Mo put out his winner’s EP for download.
Called Globetrotter, the mini-album contained five tracks, including an acoustic version of Mo’s final performance Unsteady plus a studio version of his audition song Iron Sky.
His song from the final, Unsteady, hit No.3 in the iTunes chart while his debut EP Globetrotter went straight to No.5 on the iTunes album chart.
Now in 2018, Mo is gearing up to release his debut album Evolve which will be out on Friday, March 30. You can pre-order the record here.
It follows the release of his new single That Feeling which you can download now.
As well as his new music, Mo will be performing on The Voice UK’s first live show on Saturday, March 31.
It remains to be seen if Mo can become the first winner of The Voice UK to achieve some continued chart success.
None so far have really taken off in the charts.
Only Series 2 winner Andrea Begley made any real impact on the Top 40, peaking at Number 7 with her record back in 2013, but there was no follow up.
2016 winner Kevin Simm made no impression on the Top 40 with his album while 2015’s winner Stevie McCrorie charted at 35.
2014 champ Jermain Jackman reached Number 42. Winner of series 1, Leanne Mitchell, made it to 134.
But some acts from the show have gone on to success in other areas: 2015 runner up Lucy O’Byrne recently performed in the West End’s production of Les Mis and 2013 finalist Matt Henry scooped an Olivier award as Best Actor in a Musical for his role in Kinky Boots.
