The Weakest Link will return to BBC One for a new series, it’s been confirmed.

Romesh Ranganathan will be back to host the show with brand new episodes.

The latest series will again feature line-ups of celebrity contestants who will attempt to win up to £50,000 for charity by answering general knowledge questions before only two remain and play head to head to determine the winner.

The series will feature a number of special themed episodes including Strictly Come Dancing, comedians, Gladiators, and duos, with more to be announced.

Romesh said: “It’s really a delight to be part of the BBC One Saturday night experience. I once again look forward to taking the credit if it goes well and blaming the format if it doesn’t”

Pete Ogden, Executive Producer BBC Studios Entertainment Productions added: “We’re so excited to be back with another series of The Weakest Link to entertain the nation with on a Saturday night. With the amazing Romesh back at the helm, we know there will be lots of laughs.

“We have some fantastic special episodes lined up for this series and can’t wait to put our stellar line up of celebrity contestants to the test, for excellent causes.”

New episodes of The Weakest Link will air on BBC One and iPlayer later this year.

The celebrity contestants will also be confirmed in due course.
