In The Greatest Dancer auditions, dance acts perform in front of a giant two-way mirror.

The audience can see through and watch the act and use their voting pad if they like what they see.

If more than 75% of the audience likes an act, the dancer(s) will win their way through to the next round.

Offering up expert opinion and later mentoring teams of dancers will be The Greatest Dancer panel.

Last year’s line up was made up of performer Cheryl, Strictly Come Dancing pro Oti Mabuse and Broadway star Matthew Morrison.

All three are expected to return to the series with Cheryl letting slip the news last month.

She said: “I don’t think I’m allowed to say but I’m going to anyway – I’m going back to the dance show.

“I’m going to get told off for that, but it doesn’t matter because it’s just a fact. I love, love, loved the dance show.”

Alongside the judges, the show is hosted by Jordan Banjo and Alesha Dixon.

The Greatest Dancer is made for the BBC by Syco and Thames TV, makers of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Announcing news of the second series earlier this year, Nigel Hall, Global Head of Television for Syco Entertainment, said: “The Greatest Dancer is a joyous, uplifting and exciting show. We have loved making this first series.

“We are absolutely delighted the programme will return to screens on BBC One in 2020 – and are looking forward to continuing our working relationship with the BBC.”

Meanwhile, applications to compete on The Greatest Dance are currently open.
