Taskmaster 2019 cast line up and start date confirmed

Taskmaster will return to Dave this year with series eight and a new line up of celebrity contestants.

Greg Davies will be back in his role as the almighty Taskmaster for a brand new series in 2019.

Taskmaster returns to Dave on Wednesday 8th May for its new series.

The show, which has picked up Emmy, BAFTA, RTS, and Broadcasting Press Guild award nominations – and won Best Entertainment Programme at Broadcast Awards 2018 – will start on TV in early May.

Series 8 of Taskmaster is set to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of a new host of hyper competitive comedians with an assortment of baffling and bizarre assignments.

Greg’s faithful underling sidekick, Alex Horne, will also be back to accompany the Taskmaster equipped with spreadsheets and stopwatches, eager to facilitate his master’s every whim and adjudicate his loose point system to determine a new winner.

Risking life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud inlude BAFTA winning comedian Iain Stirling (Love Island, Host of Dog Ate My Homework), actor and writer Joe Thomas (Inbetweeners, Fresh Meat) and acclaimed stand-up Lou Sanders (8 Out of 10 Cats, Sick of It).

They’re joined by comedian and champion quizzer Paul Sinha (The Chase, Tonight At The Palladium), and BAFTA winning actor Sian Gibson (Peter Kay’s Car Share, Murder On the Blackpool Express).

2018’s seventh series of the Dave show starring James Acaster, Jessica Knappett, Kerry Godliman, Phil Wang, and Rhod Gilbert was the most successful to date with an average of 1.5 million viewers per episode.

Meanwhile, 2017 saw Taskmaster: Champion of Champions reunited the victors from the first five series; Katherine Ryan, Noel Fielding, Rob Beckett, Bob Mortimer, and ultimate winner Josh Widdicombe.
