Loved up Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez have spilled all on their romance following Strictly Come Dancing.
The pair danced on last year’s series, albeit with separate partners.
Gemma Atkinson performed with pro Aljaž Škorjanec while Gorka was partnered with Gemma’s fellow celebrity contestant Alexandra Burke.
During the show there were rumours of a romance between the pair, and they confirmed on Valentine’s Day it was official.
In a recent interview, Gemma said: “It’s nice to be able to say he’s my boyfriend”.
The soap star insisted the couple were never together on the show.
“We were never hiding anything, but now that we’ve said, ‘Yes, we are together and we’re very happy,’ we can all just get on with it and things can calm down a bit,” she explained.
Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, Gemma continued: “We only saw each other for the live show at weekends, and what was happening with me and Gorka was the last thing on our minds – well, on my mind anyway!”
She added: “I couldn’t have contemplated a relationship while the show was on, it was just too stressful. So it was a gradual thing. There was no lightning-bolt moment, unfortunately.”
Meanwhile, Gorka has told new! magazine he has hopes of starting a family.
“I would love to have my own family. I love kids. Hopefully one day I’ll become a husband and a dad,” he said. “I never went into the show thinking I was going to find my partner.
“It happened after. You can’t help who you fall in love with.”
And it all follows Gemma originally being hesitant to sign up for the show in the first place.
“I was umming and ahhing, and I told my agent I didn’t want to do it,” she confessed.
Reflecting on the past 12 months, Gemma concluded: “Had I not done it, knowing what I would have missed out on, I would have been gutted.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One.
