Rick and Morty 2019 series four release date and channel

Season 4 of US animated series Rick and Morty will air on E4 in the UK – and an air date has been confirmed.

Up until now the show has only been available on Netflix.

But E4 will air the new season later this year having previously aired seasons 1-3. In addition, episodes will be available to stream for free by UK viewers from All4.

Rick and Morty Season 4 air date

Rick and Morty’s fourth series will premiere in the UK on Wednesday 20th November 2019 on E4.

Originally the new episodes were’t set to air in the UK until January 2020 but a backlash from fans has seen the release date brought forward.

Ian Katz, Director of Programmes at Channel 4 said: “When we announced we would be airing Rick and Morty Series 4 on free to air TV in January we thought fans would be delighted.

“Instead they told us – in their droves – that it wasn’t nearly soon enough, so we’ve listened and brought forward the UK premiere to November 20th on E4 and All 4. Enjoy!”

Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, Emmy-winning animated comedy series Rick and Morty follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.

Alongside Rick and Morty, Channel 4 has announced the rights for a number of other Adult Swim shows including Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Squidbillies.

A range of episodes will air on E4 while more than 300 will be made available online from All4.

Ian Katz, Channel 4 Director of Programmes, said previously: “Rick and Morty is one of the most anarchic, ingenious and original shows around and the breakthrough animated hit of recent years. I’m thrilled that it’s coming to Channel 4 and E4.”

Karl Warner, Controller E4 commented: “Adult Swim’s amazing mix of original ideas and anarchic comedy is the perfect brand partner in E4’s evolution.”

Charlie Palmer, Managing Editor All 4, added: “Adult Swim is a fantastic brand with a clear proposition and a devoted fan base. I’m delighted to have it join VICE and Walter Presents as a featured channel on All 4.”
