Britain’s Got Talent auditions continued on ITV this evening with more contestants trying to make it through to the live shows.

Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon returned to their seats behind the judges’ desk while Ant and Dec watched on backstage.

One of the acts we saw was 89-year-old Colin Thackery.

He performed a cover of Wind Beneath My Wings in tribute to his late wife, who passed away in 2016.

David praised: “Colin there is not a dry eye in the house. It was just the most perfect tribute and you sang with such heart that it affected us deeply. It was beautiful.”

Alesha commented: “I really, really loved that. You showed to everyone it’s never too late to do the things you love and to sing about the people you love.”

Amanda added: “Congratulations it was a lovely tribute.”

Simon concluded: “You are going to have a moment. It was sincere and it was real and you are what this show is all about so thank you.”

After his audition, Colin told the Daily Mirror of his hopes for singing for the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.

“I served her for 25 years, I’d love to sing to her. If I did, I would die happy,” he said.

Colin admitted he was nervous for his audition but was pleased by the reaction from the judges.

He said: “They’re very kind and they treated me very well, and put me at ease. So I launched straight into my song once it was ready and I’m very pleased that I got a good result.”

Other acts on this week’s show included mysterious magicians Brotherhood who stunned with a sword stunt.

We also met 71-year-old musician Russell T Bird who rocked out on stage with his keytar – once he got it working – while Dust in the Wind, made up of a couple from Cuba, showcased their acrobatic dance routine.

Britain’s Got Talent 2019 continues Saturday nights on ITV at 8PM.
