Nadine Coyle cancels her comeback tour: ‘It is not meant to be’
Nadine Coyle has cancelled her comeback tour with just weeks to go.
The singer announced earlier this year she was set to tour with both her new music and some of Girls Aloud’s greatest hits, but without the other girls Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Cheryl.
However, Nadine announced this week she had cancelled the tour dates.
“Hi guys, I am so sad to say I’m not able to do the tour at this time,” Nadine posted on her website. “I am so sorry and really wish things were different but for many reasons it is not meant to be.
“You deserve the best show possible and with such big venues and very little dates it was becoming impossible to achieve what we had wanted to do. Everything is a lesson & this is definitely one for me. Thank you for your continued love & support!!!”
Girls Aloud were one of reality telly’s first big successes after being put together on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
Managed then by now X Factor judge Louis Walsh, the group went to Christmas Number 1 that year with their debut hit Sound Of The Underground.
More than a decade of hits followed before the group finally called it a day in 2013.
While there had been some talk of a reunion, Nadine instead went it alone in 2018.
In February, she revealed her tour performing Girls Aloud’s tracks alongside some of her new solo songs.
Nadine told The Sun newspaper: “I love the Girls Aloud songs and get messages from fans asking to hear them performed live again. So this is giving them what they want.
“This tour is gonna be one big party night out. All the hits the fans love plus the new songs I’ve been working on over the last few years. I literally can’t wait to get out back on the road again.”
As well as the tour, Nadine said she was planning to release a new solo EP of four tracks in April.
The one-woman comeback follows Nadine admitting there had always been tension between the girls when they were together.
She said last year: “It’s so sad for me to have to admit this. For so long there’s the band and you want everybody to think we’re best friends. That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be but it just wasn’t how it was.
“We’re all very, very different characters.”
