My Famous Babysitter sees celebs become babysitters – and Rachel Riley is first to sign up

Celebrities will become babysitters for the week in new W series My Famous Babysitter.

And Rachel Riley is the first familiar face to sign up.

Each part of the four episode series will see a new celebrity face the reality of twenty-first century parenting by taking full responsibility for a family of children over four days.

W teased: “The collision of the rarefied and high profile lives of the modern celebrity with the stark reality of managing food budgets, supervising homework, after-school clubs and the general domestic drudgery of running a household in Britain today will provide the opportunity for some entertaining, humorous and often poignant reflections from the celebrities on their life and own childhood.”

Maths whizz Rachel Riley said today: “I’m really up for the babysitter challenge: I’m sure they’ll teach me a lot. I’m scared and excited in equal measure!”

UKTV’s commissioning editor Kirsty Hanson said: “My Famous Babysitter is an entertaining but revealing glimpse into the universal struggle that many of our viewers face daily; how we parent today as well as juggling everything else that modern life demands of us.

“This, juxtaposed with the tantalising prospect of learning something we don’t know about some of our favourite faces, will hopefully make for an absorbing series for our viewers and a worthwhile experience for the celebs.”

Adam Collings, channel director for W, added: “We’re hugely excited to be working with Rachel Riley as one of the stars of this fresh new parenting format, and we’ve got a brilliant line up for the rest of the series for W viewers to enjoy.”

Joe Evans, managing director of programme makers Swan Films, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the team at UKTV on this warm, uplifting and multi-layered new format that explores the realities of twenty-first century parenting.”

My Famous Babysitter will air on W later this year with further details about the series will be announced shortly.

You’ll be able to watch episodes live and catch up via UKTV Play.
