Maigret is back! Cast and spoilers from In Montmartre Christmas special

Rowan Atkinson is back as Maigret in a one-off Christmas special episode this evening on ITV.

Maigret In Montmartre features the legendary French fictional detective Jules Maigret, played by the equally legendary Rowan Atkinson.

Along Rowan, Lucy Cohu returns as Jules Maigret and Madame Maigret. Shaun Dingwall (Janvier), Leo Starr (Lapointe), Mark Heap (Moers), Lorraine Ashbourne (Rosa), Douglas Hodge (Fred) and Sebastian De Souza (Philippe) join the cast.

Maigret investigates the random murders of a Countess and a Showgirl and discovers a dark secret that links their past lives at the Grand Hotel in Nice.

In this TV film adaption, Arlette, a beguiling showgirl from a seedy club in Montmartre arrives at the Quai des Orfevres late one night drunk and claiming she has overheard two men discussing the murder of a Countess whilst she was performing.

During initial questioning Arlette is prickly and then overcome with tiredness, she insists on lying down to sleep. Left alone, sometime later she suddenly wakes terrified and screaming the name “Oscar”.

As Maigret tries to dig a little deeper asking if Oscar is one of the men intending to kill. But Arlette becomes increasingly defensive and suddenly rushes from the building.

The next morning news arrives that Arlette has been found murdered in her apartment.

Maigret In Montmartre airs at 8:30PM tonight on ITV, Christmas Eve.

The show is second of two specials to air this year in 2017.
