John Barnes has put himself forward for I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here 2019.
The ex-England footballer says he’s up for the challenge, following a recent stint on Celebrity Big Brother.
Appearing on The Jonathan Ross show on Saturday, John said he’d look at the show as a nice holiday.
“From the point of view of eating anything, I eat everything and anything, so from that point of view I would do it,” he explained. “Lying around doing nothing much, I quite fancy so I’d probably look at it as a bit of a holiday.
“I would do it, yeah.”
John was appearing on the show alongside Gemma Collins, who famously lasted just days on I’m A Celebrity in 2014.
Chatting to Jonathan, Gemma says she didn’t feel “ready” for I’m A Celebrity five years ago.
“I’ll never forget getting the cal,” she reflected. “Looking back, I don’t feel I was ready for that show. I was new to TV, I was the underdog on Towie.
“I wasn’t the best looking girl, I didn’t have a model figure, I was this car girl from Romford selling cars. I was being put in the Jungle and in hindsight I wasn’t ready for it.”
Explaining she felt “hugely out of my depth” five years ago, Gemma continued: “If I was to go back now… I’ve got a lot more experience. I’ve got a tougher skin now… If they asked me back, yes I’d go back.”
The Jonathan Ross show airs Saturday nights on ITV.
The new series of I’m A Celebrity won’t be on TV until November time, but other names have also already been rumoured.
Other celebs tipped to appear in this year’s show include Love Island’s Olivia Attwood and The Saturday’s Frankie Bridge. Frankie’s husband Wayne previously took part in 2016.
“Wayne would love for me to do I’m A Celeb,” Frankie said in January. “He had such an amazing time on the show and would love for me to experience it.”
Meanwhile, Ant recently confirmed he will be back to host the show with Dec in 2019 after Holly stepped in for him last year.
Describing Holly’s appearance as a definite “one-off”, Ant said: “I was thankful that it was her because she was looking after my mate out there and looking after the show.
“And she doesn’t need the work — she can’t get off the telly!”
