Jayde Adams has spoken out after her exit from Strictly Come Dancing’s latest season.
It was the comedian and pro partner Karen Hauer who left Strictly this weekend, the latest couple to be sent home.
For their first interview following their elimination on Sunday night, Jayde and Karen spoke exclusively with Rylan on Strictly – It Takes Two about their exit out of the competition.
On how the Charleston was for her, Jayde said: “It was amazing getting to do Victoria Wood. She’s been missed since 2016 and I got to do that on the BBC, it’s just incredible… I’m mainly sorry that it wasn’t enough and I went out [of the competition] on her.”
Karen added: “We had everything in there, there was nothing else we could do! I was upside down most of the time, her swivels were great and it was just a little bit of everything. I couldn’t have been more proud of [Jayde], really!”
On being in the dance off, Jayde added: “I just had this feeling that I was going to be in the dance off with Molly and Carlos… And I just knew if we were up against Molly and Carlos it was bye bye Jayde Adams, because I am a woman in her 30s whose got a reconstructed ACL babes! I did what I could, I did my best!”
Jayde went on to discuss the social media messages she’s received, saying: “The reason I tackle it the way I do is because for every horrible comment there’s a whole bunch of them that are lovely… I just hope with my resilience I can show that stick and stones may break our bones but names will never hurt us.
“I really hope that’s something that I’ve left as a legacy. Because, I will say, women specifically on this show get it in the neck [on social media]. Whether it’s me, whether it’s Karen, whether it’s Shirley, the women get it worse than the men.”
Karen said of working with Jayde: “It’s been incredible we’ve had such good times, we’ve cried, we’ve laughed and we’ve enjoyed it… we’ve had fun and that’s what I love that people have gotten from this. You [Jayde] have become a Strictly icon and I’ve enjoyed every second of it.”
Asked if she’d do it all again, Jayde said: “Absolutely, but I’d be on that judging table!”
Following their exit, eleven celebs remain in the competition.
