Gary Barlow reveals he turned down The Voice UK

Former X Factor judge Gary Barlow turned down The Voice UK on ITV, it’s been claimed.

In fact, Gary says he had actually turned down the show “a few times” even when it was on the BBC.

Chatting to the Daily Star on Sunday, Take That star Gary revealed: “I feel like I have been on the best talent show, which was X Factor.

“I have been asked a few times about The Voice but I don’t think it is for me.”

A source claimed to the newspaper that ITV had been keen to sign Gary up for The Voice ahead of its move to the channel earlier this year.

The insider said: “Gary has a great relationship with ITV due to his time as an X Factor judge. It’s no secret he didn’t get on with Simon Cowell but he still has a great relationship with ITV. They love him.

“They know how popular he is and what a huge following he has and they are keen for him to join The Voice line-up.”

Rather than go with The Voice, Gary instead opted to stick with the BBC and launch his own talent show Let It Shine.

The contest aired in the Spring after seven weeks of singing to uncover a talented boy band to star in a new musical based on the songs of Take That.

The Band Musical is now touring the UK with the show’s winners, Five To Five, in the starring roles.
